Henkel is a global consumer and industrial goods company, operating across two main divisions: Adhesive Technologies and Consumer Brands. In the consumer space, Henkel owns well-known brands in home care (e.g. Persil, Bref, Pril), beauty and personal care (e.g. Schwarzkopf, Dial, got2b), and laundry & fabric care.
Its products span categories such as detergents, hair care, styling, and adhesives, with a presence in over 75 countries worldwide.
The Brief
Having previously worked with various members of the senior commercial team at Henkel, Allexo were approached to support with recruiting a Category Manager to join the team.
Following a re-structure, the business brought together two key business units, reducing the size of the category team whilst increasing the breadth and scope of their remit. A newly created role, this was aligned to two significant non-food categories, managing the grocery and e-Commerce channels.
With a high-performing category team made up of individuals coming from the likes of Danone, GSK, pladis and Kantar, the support structure was in place to allow the team to focus on finding a high-potential individual to step up into the role who they could coach and develop to become a true category expert.
The criteria that was important for the role was the ability to generate and present actionable insights in a compelling way, previous experience managing multiple accounts, and most importantly a strong cultural fit with the existing team.
